Watch out......The ladies finally got out of the space here at Leftover Luxuries for a well deserved dinner and we have completely fallen for Water St Restaurant.
If you have not been, it's not to be missed. Water St. is located on the corner of Water Street and Fifth Stree SE., off of the Historical Downtown Mall. Small plates, large plates and everything we tried absolutely melted in our mouths. Mrs GotRocks loved the Gorgonzola & Asparagus Risotto so much I thought she was going to give herself a facial with it!
We ordered a handful of items. The Salman Tartar = fresh, fresh, fresh. House Made Burratta & Local Tomatoes = delicious and the portion was so big that one of us ladies took the rest home! Charred Octopus & Fava Bean Salad = wanted a second order! And, of course, the Gorgonzola & Asparagus Risotto was to die for.
The menu, simple. Small plates and Large plates. We will definitely go back to try some of the large plates.....Lamb Shank, Salmon Filet, Duck Confit and Flank Steak Shanghai.
Loved that every glass of wine is $8 or a bottle of wine for $30, ALL of them. Over 15 to choose from. The idea is to encourage everyone to choose a wine based on their tastes and interests, not because of the price point. We shared a bottle of the Zuccardi Malbec Mendoza Argentina and there wasn't a drop left.
The staff = friendly, attentive and extremely efficient.
Clientele was from one extreme to another. Spotted was an adorable couple in there 70's, cuddled up in a banquet enjoying their dinner - to a family with several children. Come one, come all! Very relaxed.
Ashley Sieg Williams, THANK YOU for opening a much needed, relaxed, and flavor-able restaurant here in Charlottesville. We will be back.
Parking: Water Street and Market Street Garage. On Friday and Saturday between the hours of 5 -11pm there is Valet for only $3.50
